Description
Ceftriaxone is a long‑acting, broad‑spectrum third‑generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is stable against many beta‑lactamases and highly active against both Gram‑negative and many Gram‑positive pathogens.
Indications
Sepsis, bacterial meningitis
Respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, lung abscess)
Urinary and genital tract infections
Intra-abdominal infections (peritonitis, biliary tract infections)
Bone, joint, skin and soft tissue infections
Perioperative surgical infection prophylaxis
Gonococcal infections
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light.
Reconstituted solution should be used promptly.
Keep out of reach of children.
Warning
Prescription drug for intravenous or intramuscular use only.
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone, other cephalosporins, or penicillin anaphylaxis history.
Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment, neonates, and patients with gallstone or renal stone history.
May cause gastrointestinal upset, eosinophilia, or elevated liver enzymes.
Avoid calcium-containing solutions in neonates.
Use under medical supervision.
