Metronidazole Tablets 500mg are a synthetic nitroimidazole antimicrobial agent.
It enters microbial cells and interferes with DNA replication and transcription, exerting a strong bactericidal effect against anaerobic bacteria and antiprotozoal activity against protozoa such as Trichomonas vaginalis, Giardia lamblia, and Entamoeba histolytica.

Indications
Treatment of infections caused by anaerobic bacteria: respiratory tract, abdominal, gynecological, skin, soft tissue, bone and joint infections.
Protozoal infections: amoebiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis.
Bacterial vaginosis.
Prophylaxis of anaerobic infections in surgery.

Important Note
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metronidazole.
Avoid alcohol during treatment and for 48 hours after stopping (risk of disulfiram-like reaction).
