Product Overview

Isophane Protamine Human Insulin Injection 100IU/mL 3mL is a sterile, nonpyrogenic, white to off-white aqueous suspension of human insulin (regular insulin) complexed with protamine sulfate and zinc, intended for subcutaneous injection. Each 3mL glass cartridge contains 300 IU (100 IU/mL) of isophane protamine human insulin. The product is a suspension formulation in which insulin molecules are bound to protamine (a low-molecular-weight basic protein) in the presence of zinc, forming a crystalline complex that slows the absorption of insulin from subcutaneous tissue, providing an intermediate duration of action. This formulation is commonly known as NPH (Neutral Protamine Hagedorn) insulin and is used as basal insulin replacement therapy in patients with diabetes mellitus.
