Iron Sucrose Injection 100mg/5mL is a sterile, colloidal solution of iron sucrose intended for intravenous administration. Each 5mL vial contains iron sucrose complex equivalent to 100mg of elemental iron at a concentration of 20mg/mL. Iron sucrose is a complex of polynuclear iron(III)-hydroxide stabilized by sucrose, designed for intravenous iron replacement in patients with iron deficiency who cannot tolerate or do not respond adequately to oral iron therapy, or in situations where rapid iron repletion is required. It is widely used in the management of iron deficiency anemia, particularly in patients with chronic kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, heavy menstrual bleeding, postpartum iron deficiency, and other conditions associated with impaired oral iron absorption or increased iron demand.
