• Mefloquine: Long-acting 4-aminoquinoline; eliminates residual parasites, prevents relapse, and delays resistance. The 400/500mg strength is for adult use; paediatric strengths (e.g., 25/50mg, 100/200mg) are available.

Indications

• Treatment of uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum (chloroquine-sensitive or resistant strains) in adults.
• Mixed infections with P. vivax (followed by hypnozoite eradication if needed).

Directions for Use

• Route: Oral, swallow whole with water; do not chew/crush.
• Typical adult dose: 1 tablet once daily for 3 consecutive days (total 3 tablets).
• Take with meals to improve tolerance; complete full course even if symptoms resolve.
