Product Overview
Levocarnitine Injection 5mL:1000mg is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution of levocarnitine (L-carnitine) intended for intravenous administration. Each 5mL ampoule or vial contains 1000mg (1g) of levocarnitine at a concentration of 200mg/mL. Levocarnitine is a naturally occurring quaternary ammonium compound synthesized in the liver and kidneys from the essential amino acids lysine and methionine, and is also obtained from dietary sources (primarily animal products). The intravenous formulation is designed for use in patients with primary systemic carnitine deficiency and secondary carnitine deficiency associated with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis, in whom oral supplementation is inadequate or not feasible.
