Description
Phentolamine is a non-selective alpha-adrenergic blocker. It dilates blood vessels, lowers peripheral resistance, reduces blood pressure, increases cardiac output, and improves microcirculation.
Indications
Hypertensive crisis caused by pheochromocytoma
Preoperative blood pressure control in pheochromocytoma
Diagnosis of pheochromocytoma (regitine test)
Peripheral vascular disorders: Raynaud’s disease, acrocyanosis, embolism
Prevention and treatment of skin necrosis and sloughing due to extravasation of vasopressors
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light.
Do not freeze.
Keep out of reach of children.
Warning
For intramuscular or intravenous use only.
Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to phentolamine, severe hypotension, myocardial infarction, coronary insufficiency, peptic ulcer.
May cause tachycardia, arrhythmia, hypotension, dizziness, nausea.
Use with caution in coronary heart disease, heart failure, renal insufficiency.
Administer under close monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate.
