Cimetidine Injection 400mg/2mL is a sterile, aqueous solution of cimetidine intended for parenteral administration. Each 2mL ampoule contains 400mg of cimetidine at a concentration of 200mg/mL. Cimetidine is a histamine H2-receptor antagonist that suppresses gastric acid secretion by competitively inhibiting the action of histamine at H2 receptors located on the basolateral membrane of gastric parietal cells. It was the first H2-receptor antagonist developed for clinical use and remains widely used in the management of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders where oral therapy is not feasible or when rapid acid suppression is required.
