Omeprazole Powder for Injection 40mg is a sterile, lyophilized formulation of omeprazole sodium intended for intravenous administration after reconstitution. Each vial contains omeprazole sodium equivalent to 40mg of omeprazole as a white to off-white lyophilized cake or powder. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system (the proton pump) at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells. It is widely used in the management of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders where oral therapy is not feasible or when rapid acid suppression is required.
