Description
Acetylcysteine Injection is a sulfhydryl-containing compound. It breaks disulfide bonds in mucus glycoproteins to thin viscous sputum, and also acts as an antidote by restoring glutathione levels to protect the liver in acetaminophen overdose.
Indications
Respiratory diseases with thick, sticky sputum: bronchitis, pneumonia, COPD, tracheostomy care
Paracetamol (acetaminophen) poisoning and liver injury prevention
Adjuvant treatment for atelectasis due to mucus obstruction
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light.
Reconstituted solution should be used promptly.
Keep out of reach of children.
Warning
Prescription drug for intravenous infusion / instillation use only.
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine.
Use with caution in asthma, peptic ulcer, and hepatic or renal impairment.
May cause nausea, rash, bronchospasm, or hypotension.
Use under medical supervision.
