Product Overview

Heparin Sodium Injection 5000IU/2mL is a sterile, aqueous solution of heparin sodium intended for parenteral administration. Each 2mL ampoule contains 5000 international units (IU) of heparin sodium at a concentration of 2500IU/mL. Heparin sodium is a highly sulfated glycosaminoglycan mixture of varying molecular weights (ranging from approximately 3,000 to 30,000 Daltons, with a mean molecular weight of approximately 12,000 to 15,000 Daltons), derived from porcine intestinal mucosa. It is a widely used parenteral anticoagulant that exerts its effect by potentiating the activity of antithrombin III, a naturally occurring plasma protease inhibitor, and is used in the management and prevention of thromboembolic disorders, as well as for anticoagulation during extracorporeal procedures such as hemodialysis and cardiopulmonary bypass.
